RSGYC Member, Brian Craig wins ISA Volunteer of the Year Award
07 March
Congratulations to Club Member, Brian Craig who won the ISA Volunteer of the Year Award at the ISA Annual Conference. There can be no doubt that Brian Craig, who is the Chairman of the Dublin Bay 2012 Major Event and a fundamental asset to the Club, was a most-deserving winner of this great accolade. Congratulations!
Indeed, Brian was nominated due to the vital role he has played in developing sailing in Ireland and specifically Dun Laoghaire over the past 40 years. His most recent success was winning the bid for Dun Laoghaire to host the 2012 ISAF Youth Worlds.
Well done also to two of the Club's Junior Sailors, Jenny Andreasson and Jane Butler who were one of just three teams nominated as Junior Sailor of the Year, which was won by a Topper Sailor.
The Awards Ball was also the first event for the ISA's new President and RSGYC Club Member, Niamh McCutcheon who was elected earlier that day at the ISA AGM. Niamh has now made history becoming the first female ISA President since the organisation was founded in 1945. Niamh remarked at the Ball "I am delighted and honoured to be elected as ISA President for the next 3 years".
