RStGYC launches new ribs with the aid of Sports Capital Grant funding

The RStGYC yesterday welcomed An Cathaoirleach Cllr Cormac Devlin  who was on hand at the official launching ceremony to welcome some new Club boats to the fleet. The three RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) were purchased with aid from the Sports Capital Grant funding received by the Club in 2015.

The funding received in addition to special funding from the Club has enabled the RSGYC to purchase three RIBS specially designed and fitted out to enable crews with disabled sailors to integrate access with mainstream club activities.

This is the second stage of a multi-year project which has seen the Club in conjunction with the NYC and RIYC incorporate sailing programs for sailors with physical and sensorial disabilities. These programs -Sailability (see https://www.rsgyc.ie/?s=sailability ), the RSGYC WeSail program (formally Special Needs- see https://www.rsgyc.ie/?s=special+needs ) are Actively promoting sailing for all abilities and disabilities. With the addition of the three RIBS the RSGYC can now facilitate sailors and their parents/ guardians on the water in both sail and powerboat training.

This training and activities will continue to introduce sailors of all ages and abilities into the wonderful sport of sailing both ashore and on the water.
