Junior Spring Sailing Update
21 February 2010
Junior Spring sailing will start again on Sunday March 7th.
Following a slow uptake for sailors to sign up to the spring 2010 coaching outside of the Oppie performance group, a meeting was held last night to review the plan and schedule.
Given the low numbers (10-11 boats) last week, the Schull oppie camp for the next 2 weekends meaning even fewer Oppies for the next 2 weekends, cold weather generally and the intervarsity's weekend, we have decided to postpone the coaching effective immediately, and plan to restart on Sunday 7th March, by which time we plan to have rounded up more entries also to the Feva and Laser fleets.
The course will still be 8 sailing days as initially planned (so 7 more to come) however we may do 1 or 2 full weekends - hence still getting the course finished in April despite Easer breaks and before the Mitsubishi Junior Regatta at the beginning of May.
Also worth noting is that on Sunday 7th March the NYC coaching starts again also, and as before we will be sharing a race with them in the morning. The format will be a single morning race rather than 2, starting around 10:30am, so getting everyone onto the water punctually on Sunday 7th will be important (weather permitting of course).
Apologies for the late notice on this.
