Special Needs sailing is for adults from age 18 with intellectual disability. They sail Squibs. They are also members of the Dublin Bay Squib Fleet and are included in the Squib Fleet’s social activities.
The athletes are coached in launching, rigging, and sailing with qualified instructors supported by volunteers. Training sessions are held on Monday evenings commencing on 16th May 2016, 6pm to 9pm, starting with preparing the Squibs for the season. Finishing on Monday 5th September when the boats and sails are cleaned and put away for the winter. Mini cruise, power boating, Tuesday DBSC racing, and Sailability President’s Cup national competition are additional activities.
