ISA Yachtmaster Coastal, Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean shorebased winter courses presented by David Jerrard of Sea~Craft.
David Jerrard of Sea~Craft has been running ISA and RYA Yachtmaster certificate courses in Ireland since 1991 and has become widely regarded as the foremost provider of shorebased Yachtmaster courses on the East coast.
David’s unique and friendly course presentation is based on the practical experience gained during 45 years of leisure and professional sailing making the courses informative, engaging and most importantly, enjoyable.
The Irish Sailing Association Yachtmaster courses are based on charts and Almanac extracts developed specifically to be relevant to Irish sailors.
There are 3 Irish Sailing Association Yachtmaster shorebased certificate courses: Yachtmaster Coastal, Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean.
WHICH COURSE IS FOR YOU?
Yachtmaster Coastal
is designed to appeal to those who wish to gain the knowledge required to skipper and crew a cruising boat safely and enjoyably in coastal waters by day and by night. Assuming no prior knowledge of formal navigation it is the ideal entry into the ISA Yachtmaster scheme.
Yachtmaster Offshore
is the next step for those who have completed a Coastal course in the past or who have equivalent knowledge. Not intended for beginners the Yachtmaster Offshore course will extend and increase your knowledge and confidence encouraging you to experience the excitement of longer passages overseas.
Yachtmaster Ocean
The ability to use a sextant to determine a yacht’s position from the sun, moon, and stars was not so long ago an essential requirement for anyone navigating out of sight of land. If blue water sailing is your dream this is the course for you. You don’t need to be a maths genius and you don’t need a sextant for this course, just an enquiring mind.
COURSE DETAILS 2011/2012:
Yachtmaster Coastal: Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm until 10pm,
starting on October the 4th and finishing on the 21st of February 2012.
Course fee, including ISA course pack €489, €469 for RSGYC members
Yachtmaster Offshore: Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm until 10pm,
starting on October the 5th and finishing on the 22nd of February 2012.
Course fee, including ISA course pack €489, €469 for RSGYC members
Yachtmaster Ocean: Sunday, all day for 6 Sundays from 9:30am until 5:30pm,
starting on October the 16th and finishing on November the 20th 2011.
Course fee, including comprehensive course notes €499, €479 for RSGYC members
We are also running VHF/DSC radio courses and exams in the RSGYC in October and November of 2011.
