Royal St George Yacht Club - winner of the Mitsubishi Motors/Irish Independent Sailing Club of the Year 2010

Message from the Commodore, Mr. Patrick Blaney

Dear Members,

I am delighted to report that the "George" is the Mitsubishi Motors/Irish Independent Sailing Club of the Year for 2010.

This honour falls to our Club because of the strength and depth of your sailing achievements in 2009, both nationally and internationally, the determining factor in the judges' decision.

Whether in the Caribbean, or home waters of Dublin Bay, whether racing big keelboats to Optimists, whether sports boats or venerable wooden classics, whether National Championships or local regattas, the Members of the RSGYC were there in both numbers and in the prizes. The judges mentioned many accomplishments specifically, some of them high profile events, but there were so many other achievements in almost every class and event held in Ireland, that the judges felt the George particularly deserving of this award in 2010.
