Exciting Trip for One Lucky RSGYC Youth Sailor

Through the generosity of Capt. Colm Newport, (well known from his Asgard days) we have been offered one place on board the Tall ships Race this July.

This will be substantially subsidized. The main cost you will bear are the transport costs to and from the ship… all the rest is included. If you are interested in the generous offer, read on…

The vessels name is ‘Georg Stage’. It operates as a training ship for the Danish Merchant navy. During this summer cruise, they have asked us if we would nominate one RStGYC trainees, between the ages of 17 and 23 years who would partake in their English speaking period of the voyage.

Voyage details are as follows:

Join ship in Helsinki on 20th July 2013
Leave ship in Szezecin, Poland 4th August 2013

The vessel will be taking part in the Tall Ships race in the Baltic.
Trainees will join for the Cruise in Company from Helsinki to Riga, Latvia and compete in Race 2 from Riga to Szczecin in Poland.

The cost of the actual voyage will be covered in a reciprocal agreement when another tall ship, Lista is operating. The cost to our nominated trainee will be all travel costs incurred joining and leaving the vessel and will be in a group of three trainees travelling from Ireland. We will be talking with the Captain over the coming days to harden up on details. The 3 people from Ireland will travel together.

What you must do:

We would like to hear from interested youths by Friday 14th June. Please submit a sailing CV plus a covering letter (email below) on what makes you an ideal candidate for this trip. We will review all submission and contact the successful candidate shortly afterwards. That’s it!
