SUMMARY:Youth Team Racing Training
DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again when we start to think about Team Racing for our youth sailors. We will be holding training sessions every Wednesday evening starting this Wednesday (July 17th) and we would like to encourage as many sailors (aged 14 – 19) as possible to join in. We would ask that sailors be down in the club by 5pm to get the club fireflys rigged and be ready to get out on the water by around 6pm.  \nThe idea of the training is to get as many young people as possible involved in team racing – those who have sailed on club or school teams in the past\, been involved on Oppie team racing and want to move on to the firefly\, those who did the TY team racing during the winter or those who just want to give it a go and see what its all about. We will be holding a session every Wednesday between now and the end of August\, in preparation for the Elmo Trophy. We appreciate that lots of people are/will be away on holidays or at the various sailing events but try to make it down whenever possible. There will be a small cost for the training sessions to cover the use of the boats and ribs (€10 per session).  There will be a payment form on the club website. \nThis year\, the Elmo Trophy YouthTeam Racing event will be held on September 7th/8th. Last year we had 4 RSGYC teams\, and we would be happy to have even more if the interest is there.

DESCRIPTION:End of Season Race- quick… enter now!\n \nJoin together to celebrate the end of another wonderful sailing season at this year’s Annual End of Season Pursuit Race. \nThis is truly one of the Club’s most enjoyable events as it is run solely for the Members of the Royal St. George Yacht Club and is a fantastic opportunity for all of the Club’s Sailing Classes to come together to enjoy some competitive rivalry! \nEntry is free and racing will begin from 1800 onwards followed by a Prize Giving and the option of a BBQ or supper in the Dining Room. There will be many special prizes to be won on the day including awards for Day Boats\, Wooden Boats\, and this year’s new awards for ‘Best Dressed Boat Overall’ and ‘Best Greeting to the Committee Boat’. This workshop will demystify the area of sailing results for events and provide attendees with the skills and confidence to expertly run results for a sailing race or event. \nWe are told that the computers do most of the work and once you have been introduced to and understand the concepts that ‘there really is not that much too it’. \nThis workshop is open to all RSGYC members\, with spaces limited to 15 attendees. Attendees should bring their own laptop a (with any version of Windows; if bringing a Mac\, it needs a Windows emulator on it) and you will find everything a lot more useful. \nThe workshop will start at 10am in the Club Room and run until the afternoon with a break for lunch. \nPlease join us for what promises to be a most interesting and rewarding workshop.  Workshop fee €5\, registration is required by clicking here: \nQuestions?
