SUMMARY:iPad Navigation Master Class with Eddie English
DESCRIPTION:The iPad has now become a regular sight aboard – being used for communication\, using lots of different apps and being used for navigation.\nDOCUMENTS\niPad Navigation Masterclass \nEddie English of SailCork has been using Macs since 1992 and has been using Navionics Charts on his iPhone since they were launched in 2009. In the summer of 2011\, he began to use the iPad with Navionics Charts. He has used the charts to navigate in Ireland\, the UK\, France\, Spain\, Croatia\, and the Caribbean. \nEddie has found the iPad indispensable for Passage Planning and excellent for navigation. Navionics were the first company to make charting available as an app for the iPad and have full charting for the world. Eddie will demonstrate using these charts and concentrate using the chart set UK AND HOLLAND HD (Available on the App Store for approx €50. To glean maximum benefit from the course pupils are advised to load this app on their iPad for the course.)\nEddie will demonstrate all the features in a specially prepared slide show showing all the features of the Navionics Charts on the iPad. DESCRIPTION:Is it time for DBSC to introduce a new mixed Sportboat Class in its racing programme? \nThere is now a good number of non SB20 sportsboats based in Dun Laoghaire; privately owned J80s & J70s\, Clubs’ 1720s\, others… \n\nThere is maybe also a renewed interest among “younger” waterfront Clubs’ members to acquire a boat and go racing in DBSC… However\, gone are the boom times when a string of J109s appeared in Dublin Bay…would be competitors are looking at a lower capital outlay of €15k to €20k for “something exciting”… \nProviding a mixed sportsboats class in DBSC next year would not only cater for the existing boats above but also maybe foster and encourage new buyers to source “fun”\, affordable day racers. \nWhat is a sportboat? How much would it cost to buy / enter one in DBSC? When will they be racing? SUMMARY:Mid Term Laser Training Camp
DESCRIPTION:This midterm\, there will be a Laser training camp run by Rory McStay and Dan O’Beirne\n\n\nApply Online Here\n\n\nThere will be separate training for 4.7s and Radials where there is enough of each fleet. \nRory and Dan are active laser sailors who have each competed internationally at World Championship  and European Championship levels in the Full Rig\, Radial\, and 4.7 rigs. \nA training plan has been set out with regards to strength and conditioning\, boat handling\, boat speed and tactics. \nThis is a perfect time to start getting time in the boat and get ready for upcoming regional and international events. \nTraining will run from 09:00 – 17:00hrs on 24th – 27th October. \nPlease sign up early as spaces are limited. \nCost:\n•         €120 RSGYC Club Members\n•         €140 Non- RSGYC Club Members
