Powerboat Training – Is it for you?
Whether you’re looking to build your confidence on the water, develop your boat-handling skills, or simply enjoy a rewarding few days of practical training, our Powerboat Courses are designed for you.
This course is ideal if you:
- Want to learn how to safely operate a RIB or other powerboat.
- Wish to improve your existing powerboat knowledge and seamanship skills.
- Are interested in supporting sailing events through race management or safety boat duties.
- Want hands-on instruction from experienced instructors in a friendly club environment.
Whatever your experience level, our training will help you become a safer, more capable, and more confident powerboat driver while enjoying time on the water.

What course do we offer?
Our course is the Irish Sailing syllabus Powerboat II course (National Powerboat Certificate), which includes both level 1 & 2. This course will formally teach you the fundamentals in the safe operation of a powerboat, its preparation and allied aspects, while helping you to build your confidence on the water and get the most from your Rib or powerboat safely and comfortably.

The courses are held on a Saturday and Sunday over one weekend and cost €360. This includes all course materials, instruction, and certifications.
