WeSail

Flag

WeSail is for adults from age 18 with intellectual disability (Special Needs). They sail Squibs and other club craft.

The athletes are coached in launching, rigging, and sailing with qualified instructors supported by volunteer sailors.  This is followed by a social gathering for everyone after sailing.

Training sessions are held on Monday evenings commencing on 15th May until 28th August 2023.  There is no sailing on the Bank Holiday Mondays.

We meet  at 17.30 ready to set sail at 18.00pm and finish at 20.30.

Athletes should be prepare to get wet so life jackets, wetsuits, bootees will be required and a towel and change of clothing.

We start by preparing the club Squibs for the season. Finishing  when the boats and sails are cleaned and put away for the winter.  Mini cruise, power boating, Tuesday DBSC racing, and Sailability President’s Cup national competition are additional activities.

At present we have a full complement of 10 athletes for the 2023 season but we always need volunteers to join our group. No particular skills necessary, just a willingness to get involved and have fun.
