The Story of The Dublin Bay 21s

An Evening with Hal Sisk: The Story of the Dublin Bay 21s

We are delighted to welcome Hal Sisk, maritime historian and driving force behind the remarkable revival of the Dublin Bay 21 class, for a special talk at the Club.

The Dublin Bay 21s—designed by Alfred Mylne in 1902 and launched from 1903—are recognised as one of the world’s oldest one‑design cruiser‑racer classes, with all seven original boats still in existence today. After decades ashore, the fleet has been undergoing a meticulous restoration, with five beautifully rebuilt boats now sailing once again in Dublin Bay and two more nearing completion.

Hal will share the extraordinary history of these iconic wooden yachts and the story behind their modern revival—an inspiring blend of heritage, craftsmanship, and community effort. This is a wonderful opportunity for members to learn more about one of the great treasures of our local sailing culture.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a fascinating and enjoyable evening.
